The Literary Man Óbidos Hotel is a unique literary hotel and the biggest in the world. Located next to the Óbidos Castle, this former convent kept its original charm and was converted in to a hotel called Estalagem do Convento in 1965.

With 30 rooms, the interiors shows an option of traditional decoration and an eco and modern style. The rooms are equipped with LCD's, heating and air conditioning, free WiFi, and some units offer a minibar.

It has various international books distributed for all the hotel, a restaurant, a gin bar and a lounge with an antique fireplace. Guests can choose from a literary menu.

Upon reservation, the hotel provides massages in a old winery atmosphere or at guests' room.

Óbidos Lagoon is just 5 km away. Caldas da Rainha and Peniche as well as its beaches are a 10-minute drive. Lisbon International Airport is 79 km away.

It’s a beautiful property and a dream come true
It’s really moldy , maybe it’s because it’s rainy season but really bad. Also there is no door in the bathroom, not good at all

The hotel is full of charm and in a great location. The restaurant and staff were amazing.

We enjoyed the one night stay, but wouldn’t go out of our way to stay again.
Very different and unique. Not like anything we seen before.
It was very difficult to park once we found the site. If parking instructions had been provided before we arrived, would have been so helpful. The staff could be friendlier. We had dinner and the Jack if attention from the wait staff was obvious. It wasn’t really busy so I failed to find a good reason for this.

Beautiful, romantic setting, but the room itself needs some
Dinner at the restaurant and breakfast in the morning were wonderful. The atmosphere in the restaurant is absolutely lovely and we really enjoyed the fire and live music. The hotel was beautiful. The location was perfect.
The water in the shower was not very warm, the room was slightly musty and the bed wasn’t very comfortable.
